Biography

Kamran Moharram Zadeh, Iranian/Austrian Contemporary Composer, Multi-instrumentalist, Painter, born in 1982 in Tehran/Iran. He studied flamenco guitar, setar (Persian instrument), Persian music theory (radif), electronic music and classical music theory and composition in his home country, and plays various Persian instruments. He taught at various music schools in Tehran from 2006 until he moved to Austria in 2016. Since then, he has studied composition at the Bruckner University with Prof Erland Freudenthaler and electronic music with Dr Volkmar Klien. He continued his master’s degree at the Bruckner University with Prof Christopher Cech and Prof Hannes Löschel. His pieces were premiered with the Ensemble Frullato in Vienna, Nimikry Duo in Linz, Janus Ensemble in Vienna. With his orchestral pieces and various ensembles he participated in the Leicht über Linz New Music Festival and Bruckner Fest Linz. He has played and improvised electronic music with the Telharmonic Orchestra for Electronic Music, which was founded by 10 composers, for Radio Kunst (ORF), Lentos Kust Museum 2020 and Ars Elektronika Festival. He received a second prize in the 9th Harald Genzmer Composition Competition 2024 at the University of Music and Theatre Munich for his work ‘Re-destruction in depth’ for two bass trombones and a third prize in the LIONs Composition Competition 2023 for his piece ‘Anticlimax’ for trombone and piano.
